Age Group / Assistant Head Coach opportunity

A rare and exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated, enthusiastic coach who would like to be part of Western Australia's newest performance club at Peel Aquatic Club in Mandurah.


Head Coach Zoe Baker (British International Swim Coach) is looking to mentor a new Age Group Coach who will assist with the Performance and Development of Peel Aquatic Club.


Location: Mandurah Aquatic & Recreation Centre (MARC), Mandurah, WA Australia

Closing Date: 20 June 2022

Employer: Peel Aquatic Club

Position: Part-time salaried with the aim to develop into a full-time role within 12-18 months

Salary: Dependant on qualifications and experience

Hours: Min 15.5 hours poolside, increase in hours to be allocated as weekly duties expand

Reporting to: Head Coach


Role & duties:

The role involves working together as part of a dynamic and experienced coaching team.


The successful applicant will be approachable and encouraging, while complimented by experience in coaching and developing young people.

The applicant must have good interpersonal skills and have the capacity to think and act for themselves


o Assist the Head Coach & Head of Development

o Develop, deliver, and Assist the Head Coach & Head of Development

o Provide additional cover whilst the Head Coach is while away at National and International swim meets

o Responsible for developing Age Group athletes within the current squads; manage the seasonal squad training programs both swim and land based, whilst building squad numbers throughout the year

o Provide a competition pathway and monitor progression of swimmers through the Age Group program

o Attendance at swimming competitions

o Mentor swimmers and work with them to outline and achieve their short term and long-term goals

o Develop a positive team culture and provide opportunities for swimmers to show their abilities and achieve their individual goals

o Ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective operations of the squad program and actively promote the squad program

o Encourage great work ethic and commitment to the program, motivating squad swimmers to achieve goals and successful competitive results

o Communicate in a respectful, positive, effective, and timely manner with swimmers, parents, coaches and the Club’s Committee


Qualifications & Certificates:


o Bronze/Development (essential), Silver/Advanced (desirable)

o Working With Children Check

o HLTAID003 First Aid
